Robyn Williams Found Art Studio Artist Bio Contact Information: Robyn Williams 1647 SE Insley Portland, OR 97202 robynleewilliams@yahoo.com Facebook: Found Art Studio Artist Bio: Robyn Williams holds a BA in Theater Design and Art. Her artistic career has centered largely around designing sets and lighting as well as working as a scenic artist for theater and dance. As her career turned towards management of large performing arts facilities, Robyn began to seek creative outlets beyond the theater. She became an avid beader working primarily in off-loom beadweaving. However she is best known for her mixed media assemblages made primarily from found and recycled objects. Encaustic painting is becoming increasingly more prevalent in her work. Robyn’s work reflects a strong personal interest in Mexican religious folk art-especially shrines, retablos and Day of the Dead motifs. Calaveras and milagros combine with rusty hardware, thrift store finds and bits of street detritis to create assemblages which often make statements on a variety of social and political collages. She formed Found Art Studio in 2010 as a forum to promote found object assemblage among art patrons and the use of found objects in the work of artists working in a variety of mediums. Robyn is a member of the board for Portland Open Studios and is a member of the Oregon Women’s Caucus for Art.
